F E v/s I L

A few months ago , during one of my free   lecture slots in DDUMC ( ddumc.in ) , I happened to scan through an interesting YouTube discussion on the captioned topic. It made me think of penning my ideas and thoughts on similar lines for the benefit of my students in IIMT , Mall Rd. Campus, Meerut. For the student community , the fact that   formal education is very   beneficial for success   cannot be denied in toto !!Education is a time tested   weapon against poverty. It allows students to gain employment and to maintain healthier lifestyles. However ,I have seen that many a modern day students do not respond well to education delivered in a traditional or formal style. This could be because they have issues with accepting authority, are not confident in speaking up in class or can’t find a course or programme that adequately addresses their skill -sets or interests. To assume that these students   are less able than others would be wrong – si...

Success is not Final and Failure is not fatal. _It is the courage to continue that counts_

It is not necessary that one must have answers for every question. Sometimes you try to answer a question which is meant for others.   So, every job interview is not meant for you. It’s ok, just learn to accept this fact. Let me share an incident, When I was an HR, there were vacancies for B.tech students but the problem was, client’s company required at least three months of experience. As per the newspaper advertisement from our company, many fresher appeared for the interview. A group of five candidates all from same college appeared for it, I knew I have to say no, but those candidates were very enthusiastic and optimistic. two of them were very good, answered all questions, I even asked manager if he can do anything, but the prerequisite was experience of three months. When I told this to those two candidates they became furious, which was obvious, as they were ready for every test. So what I did, I asked them the most difficult questions of mechan...

Attributes of a Teacher in the Digital Era

A teacher’s role is crucial and immensely important in shaping personality of students. We hear and read most about the ancient teachers who played a significant role in chiseling remarkableness in their students like Chandragupta Maurya the King, Tansen the musician, Arjuna the archer, the list goes on and on. Technological and scientific advancement has brought about a considerable change in the role of a teacher in the modern era. The story of this change began with the advent of the internet, and with its widespread use, the role of the teacher is further challenged. Now, the teacher is not a sole dispensing unit of knowledge. Google caters what the students ask for, besides the online queue of you tubers. The faculty members, at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay ManagementCollege , a well-known college for the best academic performance of the students, sensed this situation long ago and began to arm themselves with the knowledge and skills required to cope with the transitional phase...

Passion fuels the desire to get the success, which on a long run one will definitely get, but what if ... the experience of the field experts add up to ones knowledge - it results in less hindrance and speed up the vehicle to the destination success. I remember my experiences of being student, like every student I also try to ask my seniors about their learnings, where they lacked. It was all about knowing their experiences to add up to mine... So that I can be ahead of my classmates. In today's era it...

Mothering the student...

In most of my classroom interactions with students, during the last 25 years, I have observed that when one ‘unlucky amongst them’   is    made to stand and speak on   a given topic , he/she is not very comfortable and   fumbles for words to complete a sentence !! Most classmates enjoy at the   scapegoat's cost not the least worried that the next day it could be their turn to face the music.. The unlucky student who was picked up from amongst the bunch of incorrigible jokers,   is then helped to frame a sentence by the big hearted mother   in the teacher , not knowing that this popularistic approach of spoon feeding   and not letting him   / her learn from   mistakes, is making   a parasite of the   student !   I have been trying my best to address this issue of ‘ popularistic approach of teachers mothering the student more than required ‘ during various Faculty Interaction programs' I remember,...
